Take a photo or video on your Android phone. It appears in a folder on your Windows PC. No cable. No cloud. No internet needed after installing.
Why it's built this way
- Nothing leaves your building.
- Transfers happen directly between your phone and your PC over your own WiFi or hotspot — never through the internet, never through a third-party server. Turn your router's internet off entirely and it still works.
- Verified, not just "sent."
- Every file is fingerprinted (SHA-256 checksum) before it leaves the phone, and checked again the instant your PC receives it. Your phone only deletes its copy once the PC confirms an exact match — so a dropped connection never costs you a photo.
- Set it and forget it.
- No "upload" button to remember. Shoot normally; syncing happens quietly in the background while you keep using your phone.
- One-time setup.
- Pair your phone to your PC once (scan a QR code), and it's remembered from then on.
What you need
- A Windows PC
- An Android phone
- Phone and PC on the same WiFi (or the PC connected to your phone's hotspot)
Step 1 – Download the two files
Internet is needed only for these downloads.
Step 2 – Install on your PC
- Right-click the downloaded file and choose Extract All.
- Double-click Snap2PcReceiver_Setup.
- If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway.
- Read the notice, click I accept, then Next and Install.
- Click Finish. A Snap2Pc icon is now on your Desktop and in your Start Menu.
Step 3 – Install on your phone
- Open the downloaded Android file on your phone.
- If asked, tap Settings and allow installs from this source.
- Go back and tap Install.
- Open Snap2Pc and allow Camera, Microphone and Notifications.
Step 4 – Connect them (only once)
- On your PC, open Snap2Pc Receiver.
- Click Start server. If Windows asks about the firewall, click Allow. A QR code appears.
- On your phone, tap the settings icon in Snap2Pc, then Scan QR code.
- Point the phone at the QR code on your PC screen. You will see "Paired".
Every time you use it
- Open Snap2Pc Receiver on your PC and click Start server.
- Open Snap2Pc on your phone and take photos or videos.
- They arrive in your PC folder by themselves. Once the PC confirms each file, it is removed from your phone.
- You can close the receiver window with the X. It keeps running by the clock, near the bottom-right of your screen.
FAQ
Do I need internet for it to work?
No — only WiFi/hotspot, and only between your phone and your PC.
Does anything go to a cloud service?
No. It's a direct, private phone-to-PC connection.
What if my phone loses signal mid-transfer?
Troubleshooting
Windows protected your PC
Normal — click "More info" → "Run anyway."
Phone says "Not paired"
Re-open the pairing screen on the phone and scan the current QR code shown on the PC.
Files aren't arriving on the PC
Check, in order: is the server started on the PC? Are phone and PC on the same WiFi/hotspot? Did Windows Firewall ask to allow the program through — and did you click Allow?
Nothing is lost. The file stays queued on the phone and finishes sending automatically once the connection is back.
Can I use it away from home, on my phone's hotspot?
Yes — turn on your phone's hotspot, connect your PC to it, and Snap2Pc works exactly the same way.
Where do my files land on the PC?
Wherever you chose in Step 3 of setup. You can change the folder any time from the receiver window.
A file stays "pending" and never finishes
Confirm the receiver is running and both devices share a network. Check the receiver's Activity Log for an error line — it names exactly what went wrong.
Sync stops after the phone's screen has been off a while
Some phones aggressively kill background apps to save battery. Go to your phone's Settings → Battery → Snap2Pc and turn on "Unrestricted" / "Allow background activity."
Still stuck?
Copy the exact error line from the receiver's Activity Log and send it along with what you were doing right before it happened.
Using it every day
- Open Snap2Pc Receiver on your PC, click Start server.
- Open Snap2Pc on your phone, take photos or videos as normal.
- That's the whole workflow. Files appear on your PC within seconds and clear themselves off your phone once confirmed — no extra taps.
You can close the receiver window with the X — it minimizes to the small icon area near your clock (the system tray) instead of quitting, so it keeps syncing in the background. Right-click that tray icon to reopen the window or exit fully.
The status bar at the top of the app tells you at a glance whether anything's still sending ("2 pending sync") or everything's caught up ("Paired · synced").
A word on privacy and responsibility
Snap2Pc only talks to devices on your own local network that you've explicitly paired with a QR code — it never uploads anything to the internet or to any third party. That said, you're responsible for the security of your own WiFi network and for confirming your files landed correctly before deleting originals elsewhere.
